Recent projects underway for Farmersville Rotary Club

The Farmersville Rotary Club is busy with the following projects:

• Furnishing an apartment for the Samaritan Inn in McKinney. The Samaritan Inn is a non-profit organization that helps Collin County’s homeless people regain their independence, through providing food, shelter, training, children’s programs, and case management services.
Through a large donation, they have been able to build some apartments in McKinney, which will provide them an opportunity to provide transitional temporary housing for residents who have been through the program and have a new full-time job. The Rotary Club members have donated items to completely furnish one apartment.

• Scholarships for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) – the club will provide scholarships to two Farmersville high school seniors to attend a week-long leadership camp this summer. The 2008 recipients are Ashley Chronister and Kyle Murray.

• Scholarships – We will provide two $2,000 scholarships to two deserving Farmersville High School graduating seniors. In addition, we will also be selecting the recipient for the $1,000 James Highsmith Memorial Scholarship, for a deserving Farmersville High School graduating senior with aspirations for a career in education.

• Annual Blood Drives – 100 units of blood have been donated, which surpasses the Club’s goal.
