PRINCETON – Farmersville completed an undefeated run in District 13-3A with a 43-0 victory Friday over Princeton at Jackie Hendricks Stadium.
“We held the score down, which is something we wanted to do,” head coach Ross Dodson said. “We played a full four quarters. I was really pleased with the way we performed all-around (offense, defense and special teams).”
The Farmers (7-3 overall, 5-0 in 13-3A) finished the game with 389 total yards of offense, with 344 coming on the ground.
The Panthers (3-7, 1-4) were limited to 147 total yards (-19 rushing and 166 passing) and six first downs.
Farmersville opens the Class 3A Div. II Region II bi-district round at 7:30 p.m. Friday versus 14-3A’s No. 3 Eustace (4-6 overall) at Mesquite’s Hanby Stadium.
Eustace fell 40-7 to No. 2 Van last week.
Following an early four-and-out last Friday by the Panthers, the Farmers took control at Princeton’s 39.
Morgan Harbison carried the ball twice, bringing it down to the 6-yard line. Chase Wiggins capped off the drive with the score, and Marcos Delafuente added the extra point.
The Farmers struck once again on their following possession, when Austin Brooks scored from the 20. He then found Wiggins in the corner of the end zone for the two-point conversion, making it 15-0 with 6:54 left in the first.
Princeton’s defense held strong until the 8:32 mark of the second period, when Wiggins found paydirt from 28 yards out.
Dalton Wood then picked off the Trevor Schilling pass on the ensuing Princeton drive.
Twelve plays later, Wiggins scored his final touchdown on a 4-yard scamper off the pitch from Brooks to make it 29-0 just before the half.
Farmersville continued its offensive onslaught in the third quarter.
The rushing combination of Michael Thompson and Payton Adams carried the pigskin to midfield, and four plays later Harbison capped off the drive with a 16-yard run untouched into the end zone.
The Panthers were forced to punt the ball away on their next possession.
Wiggins scored the game’s final points, when he took the punt back 46 yards for a touchdown.
