Dairy Queen, located on Hwy. 380, was burglarized in the early morning hours of July 24.
Farmersville officers responded to a call for an “open door” at the restaurant about 5:45 a.m. While checking the restaurant, officers found that a computer had been taken and a door had been damaged.
According to Dairy Queen owner Joe McKee, the thieves caused more damage to the store’s cash register system than anything else.
“They ruined the system,” he said.
McKee estimated the amount of the register system between $5,000 and $7,000.
When the burglars picked up the register to steal it, they disconnected the entire system which made it freeze and crash, he said.
The thieves also stole the money from the Jarren McTee fund which was being held in the store. “It wasn’t a huge amount and we gladly replaced it but it is frustrating to have that happen,” McKee said.
Farmersville officers processed the scene for evidence.
“I think our police department is doing a really excellent job,” McKee said. “It’s tough to try to catch someone like this.”
The Shell station, located across from Dairy Queen, was broken into for the third time July 2 and a burglary attempt at Celebration Location, located at Hwy. 78 and 380, occurred sometime between late night July 3 and 3:30 a.m. July 5.
The Shell station was also burglarized June 28 and 30.
Anyone having any information about any crime is asked to call the Farmersville Tip Line at 214-578-4975 or 972-782-6141.
