A 20 minute firework display was the
highlight of the event for many.

The season of red, white and blue bedazzlement was enjoyed by a large crowd at the fourth annual Fireworks in the Park Independence Day celebration hosted by the Josephine Volunteer Fire Department last week.
“Our department has been organizing the show for months and working with the fireworks for days,” said Julie Brooks, wife of Josephine Fire Chief Cameron Brooks.
Along with food provided by Charlie’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers from Farmersville and entertainment by the Clay Potter Band, those in attendance were able to see an example of what the Josephine VFD will  purchase with their latest $190,000 grant – a four-door tender truck that will hold a five-man crew. Deep South Fire Trucks Inc. was on hand to show off what the new truck will look like before the construction of the vehicle begins.
Hamburgers, snow cones, funnel cakes and fried goodies were available to the crowd as they waited for darkness to fall and the fireworks to commence.
Portions of the proceeds from the cake auction, dunking booth and other games went to benefit the fire department.
“We are very happy with the turnout,” Mrs. Brooks said.
The event was attended by several different volunteer fire departments including Caddo Mills and Farmersville in support of the Josephine Department.
